"Destinations in Paintings: The Kasten Collection" at the Allentown Art Museum …

Sometimes collectors collect what others overlook because they see beauty or cultural importance others don’t.

A case in point is “Destinations in Paintings: The Kasten Collection,” an Allentown Art Museum exhibition that is less about the paintings than the reason for collecting them.

“Destinations in Paintings” represents a small sample of the collection of Alex and Barbara Kasten of Bluffington, S.C. These paintings have a theme that reflects the Kastens’ own love for travel as much as they depict scenes from artists’ travels during the mid 19th and early 20th centuries.
