Gadsden museum’s children’s room focuses on visual arts – News …

Next week will be busy at the Gadsden Museum of Art, with the grand opening of its GMA Art Play room at 12:15 p.m. Tuesday and the opening of three new exhibits during First Friday.

The Art Play room is an update to the museum’s children’s room, with a new focus on visual arts activities in addition to the room’s previous games and toys.

New to the room are six wall installations, including a mirror and marker board setup for drawing self-portraits, a Picasso-themed set of magnets that can be arranged to create cubism faces and two photo-op walls, where kids can pose in front of butterfly wings inspired by artist Damien Hirst or a pop art, fire-breathing dragon inspired by Andy Warhol.
