Is it real or not? Trompe L’oeil and beyond

A new show and a new experience opens at the Drummond Public Library Thursday, Sept. 5, with a reception and artist presentation from 4 to 6 p.m. An entree into the world of Trompe L’oeil and beyond is the focus of many of the art works on display. This exhibit gathers work by artist/muralist Donna Post.

The public is invited to learn more about this very realistic and practical painting approach. The presentation by Post will begin at 4:30 p.m. Post will describe and illustrate how she uses Trompe L’oeil technique in her current work.

Trompe-l’oeil (French for “deceive the eye”, is an art technique involving realistic imagery in order to create the optical illusion that the depicted objects exist in three dimensions. Forced perspective is a comparable illusion in architecture. Although the
