OCEAN CITY — A Cape May County artist will have his abstract mix-media work featured in the Ocean City Arts Center through August.
Scott Troxel’s solo exhibit, “Line and Grain,” focuses on modern abstract and non-objective work. His work originates from looking at objects or emotions and breaking them down to their abstract forms, according to a press release.
“Texture, balance and form take precedence over narration or subject matter,” the release states of Troxel’s work. “His three-dimensional wall sculptures combine exotic hardwoods, repurposed materials, acrylic paint and sometimes metals. Scott blurs the lines between modernism, minimalism and abstract expressionism, sometimes using hard edged lines to compose his shapes, and other times painting more freely, allowing the process to determine the result.”
A “Meet the Artist” reception will be held 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 12 at the Arts Center, inside the Ocean City Community Center at 1735 Simpson Ave.
