RIVERSIDE: Art auction to help homeless pets – Press

A live and silent auction to help homeless pets happens this Sunday, April 21, at the Riverside Art Museum.

This is part 2 of Riverside County Animal Services’ annual Art for the Animals fundraiser. Part 1 featured an online auction of various pieces of donated artwork earlier this year.

Sunday’s first-ever, live Art for the Animals auction will hopefully showcase a bidding war for local, donated artwork — all in the name of helping needy animals, said Candace McGrew, the department’s coordinator for the event.

One of the most unique items featured for Sunday’s event includes a donated, original cartoon strip by the creator of “Mutts,” Patrick McDonnell.

The artist also signed the strip, which has since been published. This original piece is framed and would make for a fantastic office piece for any animal lover, said Carolyn Badger, who has volunteered her time as an Animal Solutions Konnection Foundation member for more
