Romantic Realism : The Landscapes of Bill Mowson

Bill Mowson is a local, a greater Ithaca area-based watercolor artist.

I first discovered his work several years ago. His paintings were at the Handwork Gallery here in Ithaca on a Gallery Night. 

I also saw Mowson’s work a few years back at his display tent at the Ithaca. (A marvelous event. More cities should have spring arts festivals, too.)

Mowson paints wonderful watercolors of the landscape here in the Finger Lakes region of upstate New York, which is an extraordinarily beautiful place (especially when it is warm … and we are not in our endless, hellish, five-month winter period of the year). He paints the lakes and the greater Ithaca area and the sublime Cornell University campus and so
