MANCHESTER — The McIninch Art Gallery at Southern New Hampshire University announces the recent award of two grants that will support exhibition programming for the academic year of 2015 to 2016.
The first award of $10,000 was received by the McIninch Foundation for an exhibition of two nationally known photographic artists Laura Letisnky and Tanja Marcuse, who have pushed still-life into new territories.
“Whether confronting our magazine fantasies, or the way a rotting apple stimulates our deepest wants and fears, in their often monumental and gorgeously realized prints these two women penetrate the very crux of the meaning of desire: to long for, to crave, to reminisce,” according to a press release issued by Steve Boucher, senior director of marketing and communications at SNHU. “They thus place themselves in an historical trajectory of still life, as well as advance the genre’s parameters.”
