State artists featured in Woodwalk’s ‘Landscapes’

Woodwalk Gallery in Egg Harbor holds a reception when it opens “Landscapes Near and Far,” its third exhibit of the season, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Aug. 18.

The exhibit features the work of painters Lynn Schoenecker and Beki Borman, both from Wisconsin, and the “rustic vessels” of Algoma artist Keith Carter. They will be at the opening reception, which also features the music of Door County favorites David Hatch and Lynn Gudmunsen.

In entirely different ways, both Schoenecker and Borman explore visual and experiential landscapes in their work. For both artists, landscapes are the context within which life is lived both intimately and expansively. Both the medium and the technique they have chosen primarily to work with is the result of much experimenting and dissatisfaction with other media and techniques.
