Still Life and Red Peppers – Old Red Lion Theatre

I have never really taken to Noel Coward and after this evening I still have my doubts – however, I do think my opinion has softened somewhat.

Often I find Coward’s characters belligerent and almost impossible to care for, their concerns seem trivial and their situations irrelevant, Hay Fever is a perfect example of this, however here we have two rather charming stories featuring situations which instantly engage and characters you can’t help but like.

Still Life is the tale of three couples, each at varying stages in life, each with different priorities, who find one another and fall in love. It is a really lovely little piece. At its core is the story of Alec Harvey (Freddie Capper), a married doctor
