Surveying the landscapes at Gallery360

The juried landscape show currently on view at Gallery360, Tellus360’s second-floor art gallery, takes a broad view of current approaches to this popular and long-standing genre.

“It’s the first show I’ve organized; I really wanted to do something that would get a lot of artists interested, and I wanted to reach out beyond Lancaster,” says Quinn McNichol, who became gallery director in October.

Inspired by trips to summer art programs in Mount Gretna and Chautauqua, N.Y., McNichol wanted to “show something that pushes the boundary a bit.” She tapped local artist Dorothy Frey and Glen Sebulash, a professor at Ohio’s Wright State University who taught at the Mount Gretna School of Art last summer, to serve as jurors.

McNichol, who grew up in Glenside, just outside of Philadelphia, moved to Lancaster in 2008 to attend the Pennsylvania College of Art Design. It was there she found, while helping out PCAD gallery director
