Gallery owner and art manager John Cacciatore has managed tapestry artist Nancy Kozikowski’s career for about 28 years. Starting as friends and business associates, the two eventually married. Today they divide their time between Albuquerque, N.M., where John runs a gallery and Nancy creates tapestries, and Songzhuang Artist Village outside Beijing, where John curates exhibits and Nancy has a second studio.

The couple, who have lived part-time in China since 2004, spoke to the Journal about traveling as a pair, the challenges getting to Buddhist cave paintings in Xinjiang, and the importance of writing down your hotel address.
