More than 200 people participated or cheered folks on over last weekend as they participated in the American Cancer Society’s 11th annual Tri-town Relay for Life overnight walk at the track at Old Rochester Regional High School.
Thirteen teams with 108 registered participants took part in the June 14-15 event. Twenty-three cancer survivors participated in the Survivors Reception.
“We had over 200 luminaria bags, which represent people who are still battling cancer, as well as those we have lost to cancer,” Community Executive of Development with the American Cancer Society Kelly Banks said.
“We have raised over $39,000 so far this year, and are still accepting donations until Aug. 31, which will be credited to this years event,” Banks said.
Organizers hope to raise $50,000 this year. Last year, the Tri-town Relay for Life raised $49,000 for cancer research and patient support. The American Cancer Society
