Video: Inventing Impressionism at the National Gallery

In the 1870s, Paul Durand-Ruel championed a revolutionary group of Parisian artists painting real subjects in vivid, atmospheric colours and en plein air. In doing so, he changed the course of art history and established the modern art market.
