Acrylic artist’s work on exhibit in Houma

His work is on display throughout May at the Terrebonne Fine Arts Guild’s gallery, Downtown Art Gallery 630, 630 Belanger St., downtown Houma.

Arts Guild members selected Theriot as its artist of the month for May. The gallery is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays.

Theriot’s artwork consists of landscapes, still life and portraits in watercolor, acrylic, pastels, oils, and pen and ink. Theriot’s medium of choice is whatever he is working on at the time.

A 1954 graduate of St. Lucy High School, Theriot attended St. Norbert College in Wisconsin on scholarship for one year, then transferred to Xavier University in New Orleans, where he graduated in 1959 with a Bachelor in Art Education.

After serving in the U.S. Army, he resided in Chicago for more than 30 years before relocating to Houma in 1993. As a member of St. Lucy Catholic Church, he serves as
