Animal art bringing people together downtown

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — Two lions, 37 bears and one tiger are scattered throughout Greater Lafayette, but don’t be alarmed. They’re colorful, quiet and meant to make residents smile. The area’s latest public art project is warming up the downtown area, just in time for summer.

Forty pieces are placed mostly in downtown Lafayette, with some extending to the west side of the river. They are creations of local artists young and old, all put together by the Art Museum of Greater Lafayette. “Lions, Tigers and Bears, Oh My!” has something for everyone, according to the museum’s executive director Kendall Smith.

“It brings families who want to engage in a community together and it makes this kind of, what we call our community of choice,” said Smith.
