Two big shows open at the Provincetown Arts Association Museum from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 10 — “PAAM 100: A Century of Inspiration — 1940-1965” and “Context and Counteractions,” works by the 2013-’14 Fine Arts Work Center visual arts fellows.
Continuing its partnership with the Smithsonian archives in Washington, D.C., the Art Association brings together many major works by Provincetown’s most celebrated artists in this second installation of its pre-centennial series, which leads up to its 100-year anniversary in August. Through documents, photographs and artwork from the Art Association Archives, the Smithsonian and other collections, the show focuses on Hans Hofmann and his work at his Provincetown art school and at the Arts Association.
