Art review: Amy Schade’s paintings combine concept and reality

“Under the Influence,” an exhibit of paintings by Reading artist Amy Schade, is viewing through May 15 at the Jewish Cultural Center of Reading. Invoking her experimental side, Schade is showing at least 20 of her latest acrylic abstractions and mixed-media collages completed over the last two years.

Schade graduated from West Virginia University and holds a bachelor’s degree in graphic design with an emphasis on printmaking, photography and visual communication. She is well known throughout the area and has received numerous accolades for her work in the “Art of Jazz” exhibits, Berks Art Alliance shows and various juried competitions.She is a member of the Philadelphia Watercolor Society and the Pennsylvania Watercolor Society, and her work is included in private, public and
