Artist Rhiannon Roberts mixes fantasy and reality in her colourful landscapes

At first glance, Rhiannon Roberts’ colourful paintings may appear to be filled with fantastical images.

But take a closer look and you realise that some familiar buildings peer out at you.

Roath Park’s clock tower, the Norwegian Church and Wales Millennium Centre are just some of the landmark places featured on the canvas entitled Crazy Cardiff. But, living up to its moniker, there are also floating cocktail glasses, daffodils and rugby balls.

For Roberts mixes the real with the magical as she creates her vibrant work.

At just 25, the self-taught artist is already enjoying success with her business, Rhiannon Art, through which she produces canvases and takes commissions to create items like glass coasters and chopping boards adorned with her trademark scenes.

But just a few years ago things could have been very different as she was training to be a psychologist at Cardiff University.
