Artistic expressions at Hopkinton Center for the Arts

Painting from her “mind’s eye,” Pauline Tandon uses luminescent watercolors to capture the dance of sunlight on speckled fish and Japanese cherry blossoms.

Potter Carol Mecagni mixes a layer cake to five different glazes to make ceramic bowls colored as subtly as Monet’s haystacks.

As if conjuring dreams, Evelyn Bernal paints sheep gathering in a magical forest that we all visited as children.

They are just some of the talented local artists exhibiting an exciting mix of quality art in the Members Show at Hopkinton Center for the Arts. Organized by Artistic Director Kris Waldman, the annual show features about 40 paintings, ceramics, photographs and collages by 19 members. It runs through Jan. 10 in the center at 98 Hayden Rowe St. Most works are for sale.

Waldman credited HCA member artists for submitting “diverse, high quality work” that demonstrates “creative expression is alive and well here.”
