Beautiful landscapes attract artists to Winter Park’s Paint Out

Plein Air, in French, means “in the open air” – in other words, art that is painted outdoors.
In Florida in April, when the rainy season and the summer humidity hasn’t quite taken hold yet, that probably sounds quite appealing.
Sunshine and warm weather could easily encourage artists to step outdoors for some inspiration.
It helps, Debbie Komanski said, to have so many beautiful locations in Winter Park and the rest of Central Florida to use for that inspiration.
From April 19-25, the Albin Polasek Museum and Sculpture Gardens, where Komanski is the executive director, is hosting the Seventh Annual Winter Park Paint Out. It’s an event that brings together twenty-five professionally acclaimed plein air artists who will roam across the city, capturing many of the local landscapes and landmarks with oils, watercolors and pastels.
