In “WAR HORSE,” a young farm horse named Joey is sold to the Army in the middle of World War I, goes to the front lines and is pursued tirelessly by the boy who raised him. A touring production of the 2011 Tony winner for best play — complete with life-sized animal puppets created by South Africa’s Handspring Puppet Company — opened at Detroit’s Fisher Theatre the week before Christmas and is offering its final performances through Sunday.
