Beeville — The Beeville Art Museum is featuring an exhibition of works by landscape artist Sylvia Benitez. A nationally acclaimed, multi media artist originally from the East Coast, Benitez became part of a thriving art scene there. Now Benitez, who lives and works in Seguin, has said living in South Texas has had a “giant” effect on her. She described the region as a “strange land to this East Coast girl.”
Previously known for her large-scale outdoor installations, the trained painter returned to painting when she moved to Seguin.
In her artist statement, Benitez acknowledged she is living in an unusual place, artistically speaking.
