Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre put its technical and artistic prowess center stage in a meaty mixed repertory program of Pittsburgh premieres in March. Now it’s about to raise the rigor of its repertoire once again.

To close its 45th anniversary season, the company will present the local premiere of the 19th-century classic “La Bayadere,” a drama-packed piece thick with love, loss and absolution set in ancient India to a Ludwig Minkus score. It will be at the Benedum Center, Downtown, for four performances Friday through Sunday with the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre Orchestra, under the direction of maestro Charles
