Famous St. John’s alum Ahmet Ertegun’s collection ‘comes home’

For nearly two decades, the Mitchell Gallery at St. John’s College has showcased major exhibits such as “The Inventions of Leonardo Da Vinci” and “The Art of Still Life” from the Baltimore Museum of Art.

Known for displaying thought-provoking artwork, it wasn’t until recently that an exhibit had a special connection to the stomping ground of the Johnnies, as the students at the private Annapolis college are known.

“An Ear for Music, An Eye for Art: The Ahmet Ertegun Collection” is a presentation of the artwork collected by Ahmet Ertegun, a 1944 St. John’s graduate and founder of Atlantic Records.
