Former Brevard painter is a Triple Crown artist

He paints courage, determination and heart, all neatly blanketed in a mantle of musculature, elegance and beauty.

Thoroughbred horse artist Robert Clark has rendered portraits of the Sport of Kings’ royalty, including Triple Crown wonder horse American Pharoah.

On July 25 at Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, Clark will unveil his latest volume of horse paintings, “A Brush with Greatness.” The work is a collaboration between Clark and writer and horse-racing historian Edward L. Bowen.

“He was at all of Secretariat’s Triple Crown races,” Clark said..

“He is a living legend.”

As editor of The Blood Horse, the magazine of horse racing, Bowen covered the last Triple Crown winners.

Serendipity has played a part with the book’s debut, for it was originally intended
