Picasso
It is the lot of mould-breaking artists to be co-opted by the rich and
seriously established. Thus it is that ’Monaco Celebrates Picasso’ this
summer, with a two-part show at the principality’s Grimaldi Forum. The first
covers the artist’s experience of the Côte-d’Azur during the years 1920-46.
The second is a scoop: Picasso works from the collection of the Nahmad
art-dealing dynasty. Usually, these are banged up in a warehouse in
Switzerland (July 12-September 15; 00377 9999 2000; grimaldiforum.com;
£8.50).

Meanwhile, the July 20 Picasso festival in Vallauris – the pottery town where
the artist grappled with ceramics – is more Spanish fiesta than analysis of
cubism. It will this year be flanked by other Picasso-related events (0033
493 638258; vallauris-golfe-juan.fr).
