Chinese contemporary artist Shi Qi held a painting exhibition in the Louvre on Dec 13, becoming the second artist to exhibit Chinese paintings overseas, following in the footsteps of artist Wu Guanzhong.
At the exhibition, Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts (SNDA), an art authority in Paris, awarded Shi’s Louvre art show a Special Mention prize, a high honor for Chinese modern art.
Shi Qi, born in 1940, is a member of the China National Academy of Painting and president of the Shi Qi Art Research Association. A gradute from the Fujian Academy of Arts and Design in the city of Xiamen, Fujian province, he advocates combining concrete, the abstract and impressionism in painting. Shi is a master in Chinese painting, oil painting and calligraphy. He has published over 30 art books and held more than 30 solo exhibitions.
