Lego Colosseum comes to town

While it’s nowhere near as historic or large, a model of the Roman Colosseum made out of Lego is still an impressive sight.

This particular model was built by certified Lego professional Ryan McNaught.

His Roman Empire-inspired masterpiece is now on display in Bathurst, in central-west NSW.

Emma Hill is the Education and Public Programs Officer at the Bathurst Regional Art Gallery, and says the cross-section model of the amphitheatre is incredibly unique.

“It’s made out of about a quarter of a million pieces of Lego, so try and wrap your mind around that for a start,” she says.

“One half is as it would’ve been and the other half is more like it is today.

“The detail is quite phenomenal, and it’s a really interesting piece- you see something different every time.”

Emma says the award-winning exhibition’s individuality and visual strengths will help educate people about ancient history.
