‘Made in New York’ art show on display in Auburn hits a bump in the road (Review)

I know a show is in trouble when it takes three passes to find an image to run with the review and the wall text says more about the works of art than the works of art. Unfortunately, that’s what I experienced during a recent visit to the Schweinfurth Memorial Art Center in Auburn to see this year’s rendition of the annual “Made in New York” exhibition.

Jurors Katie Waugh, assistant professor of Studio Art at Wells College and associate director of the String Room Gallery and David Hornung, professor of Art and Art History at Adelphi University selected 73 works of art by 56 artists from 460 submissions by 247 artists. The show includes drawing, painting, lots of photography, some sculpture, installation and a few examples of decorative arts; specifically, hand crafted furniture and silver serving utensils…nice additions to the mix.
