Pioneering Door County artist Gerhard C.F. Miller and his wife, Ruth, took a visionary leap when they founded the first year-round arts center on the Peninsula in 1975.
Forty years on, the Miller Art Museum in Sturgeon Bay continues as a main focal point for the arts in Door County. This weekend, the gallery opens the first of two exhibits this year celebrating its 40th birthday.
“Celebrating Forty with Festive Art About Food” opens with a reception from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Jan. 17 at the Miller. The other exhibit planned to celebrate the 40th this year is “Gerhard C.F. Miller: The Artist and His Mentor,” which will run from July 18 to Sept. 8 and include a more official birthday
