Mipitas sculptor named 2014 Artist of the Year

“I do so many things, and I am still not sure what I want to do with my life,” said Carla Moss, longtime Milpitas resident and Milpitas’ Artist of the Year for 2014.

Moss is full of energy when she talks about her work, which includes the “The Flute Player” in the pond behind Milpitas City Hall, “Cartwheels!” in front of the Milpitas Public Library and “The Little Alviso Water Tower” in Alviso Adobe Park.

Moss was announced as the 2014 Artist of the Year by the Milpitas City Council at its Jan. 7 meeting, after being selected by Milpitas Arts Commission. That panel received nominations for artists and business owners who made outstanding contributions to the arts.
