New Exhibit Coming to EKG – “Be Alarmed: The Black Americana Epic …

Philadelphia-based artist Tiona McClodden’s Movement I – The Visions will be exhibited at the University City Science Center’s Esther Klein Gallery (EKG) at 3600 Market Street in Philadelphia from January 31-March 15, 2014.

Paired with a series of sculptures and artifacts situated within the narrative of the film, the debut exhibit creates McClodden’s own Black Americana Epic through short scenes. By breaking down an epic film into a series of short trailers, McClodden leaves it to the viewer to create the larger narrative.

The opening reception for the exhibit, the first of McClodden’s upcoming four-part series, will be held on Friday, January 31, 5:00-7:30 pm. at EKG. Movement I – The Visions is part of the Leeway Art+Technology Residency, a collaboration between
