Since she was in first grade, Newark-area resident Wynn Breslin knew she wanted to become a professional artist.
“I have a picture of me in the first grade in Rutherford, N.J.,” Breslin said. “Everyone is smiling for the picture, and I’m the only one holding a painting that I had done. It was then that I knew.”
Then in third grade, Breslin started taking art lessons. Her substitute teacher’s husband was an artist in New York City, and she went to his studio every Saturday morning.
She continued pursuing art through secondary schools and into college. She earned a bachelor’s of fine arts from Ohio Wesleyan University and a masters degree from the University of Delaware.
“I always wanted to be an artist,” she said. “I never wanted to do anything else.”
Now at age 80,
