The “photo-realist” drawings of Delta-based artist Rain Longson are the focus of the next Thursday Artist Talk at Surrey Art Gallery.
On Jan. 10 starting at 7: 30 p.m., Longson will talk about her transition from graphic designer to visual artist. She will also share tips on photographing and scanning art work, how to calibrate computer monitors and the difference between DPI and monitor resolution.
“The style of painting I do is called contemporary realism,” Longson explains in a post on her website (rainlongson.com). “I was fascinated the primary focus point is detailed the rest not so much. This is more or less the way I think and see things.”
Thursday Artist Talk events are co-presented by Surrey Art Gallery Association.
