Showcasing the still life

Longtime Fort Saskatchewan resident and artist Linda Morrow is showcasing in an exhibit entitled ‘Here and There’ for this month’s Alberta Lottery Fund Art Gallery at the Dow Centennial Centre.

Morrow’s acrylic and watercolour compositions depict scenes of objects in their natural state, such as trees, flowers, old deteriorating barns, and farmers’ fields.

Since September 2014, she created 19 new works for the exhibit. In total, there are 38 paintings on display and some of those sold on Jan. 9 on opening night.

“I had to work like a bumble bee,” Morrow said.

She noted she’s most comfortable with watercolours, the art form which she started with.

“I love the medium. It flows and it breaths. The more that you look at it, you can see it moving, changing,” she said.

Morrow added she tried acrylics because she enjoyed the vibrancy of the art form, and wanted to make sure she could master a different medium.
