A British artist has captured the hustle and bustle of the Big Apple and Chicago in a collection of incredibly life-like paintings that would make even the most seasoned New Yorkers and Chicagoans look twice.

Many painters work from photographs of buildings and streetscapes to create their final images, making loose sketches before committing paint to canvas or create complex grids, translating into paint box by box.

But Nathan Walsh relies on elaborate pencil drawings reminiscent of architectural blueprints that are drawn on-site. Some pieces begin from over 100 drawings he then references in his studio.

This underpinning geometry gives each work an almost uncanny sense of realism that might not be present if he utilized other techniques.
