Stepping into the realm of art history

TRURO – Seniors with an interest in the arts can get their fill in the new year thanks to a number of programs held at the Marigold Cultural Centre.

Tim Hortons Fine Arts Programs for the Young at Heart (50+) will offer many classes, including an introduction to art history with Dee Appleby.

“I’ve always loved history and loved talking and studying about art,” said Appleby, who has been teaching the course with the Senior’s College Association of Nova Scotia in Truro and Halifax for two years. “For me, it was just a natural extension of all my interests to teach art history.”

The course encompasses history, archaeology, art and architecture, all subjects of interest to Appleby.

“I love to study mankind, his activities and what he creates,” she said. “The most beautiful things created by him are in the realm of art history.”
