Summer art camps for teens at Murphysboro School of Art

Murphysboro School of Art is offering two classes for teens. Classes are limited to five students so the instructor can spend individual instruction time with each student.

All classes take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Students will need to bring a sack lunch and drink. To enroll email or call 618.201.7435.

Here are the details:

Action Painting for Teens (Grades 6 to 12): Learn the abstract expressionist style of painting – Action Painting – created by Jackson Pollock; history and studio elements of action painting and abstract expressionism.

Section 1: June 16-19

Section 2: July 7-10

Cost: $150

Materials Fee: $50

Supply list: Journal, pencil set, erasers and paint clothes

Drawing Skills for Teens (Grades 6 to 12): Learn to draw from still life and nature in the studio and out of the studio. A cadre of mediums will be introduced, i.e. charcoal, pencil, sumi ink and pastels along with different approaches to drawing. Famous artists known
