HAILEY • The Sun Valley Center for the Arts is offering a “Still Life Painting” course that meets 6-9 p.m. five evenings in a row. Sun Valley artist Lori McNee will show students how to position and light their own still lifes.
“While painting the landscape out in the field, Mother Nature is in charge,” she said. “However, when setting up a still life painting, I am able to create my own small universe in my studio.”
Students will learn how to set up a palette and how to use color, composition, light and shadow to best effect. Students can work in either acrylics or oils. Although this class is aimed at beginner to intermediate students, more advanced painters looking for a refresher in the basics are welcome.
A longtime Idaho resident, McNee shares her knowledge on her blog, www.finearttips.com. Learn more about her and see her art at www.lorimcnee.com.
