Team of the Week: Cavalli shows there’s still life in the islanders

Well even if (when) PSG go on to win the title, Monaco will be able to claim one small moral victory: just like the first fixture between the two, the points were shared in the entertaining top of the table clash, Monaco again coming back from an early PSG opener to draw 1-1. If nothing else, Ranieri’s men can be proud to have remained unbeaten against Le President’s men.

So the gap between the top two remains five points. The gap between Monaco and the rest has reduced slightly, with Lille retaining third place after their 2-0 win at home to lowly Sochaux. A first Ligue 1 win of 2014 for René Girard’s men but, by all accounts, still a lot to work on for les Dogues. Saint-Etienne remain in fourth, but lose ground slightly after an insipid 0-0
