SOUTH BEND, IN — Fragments of familiar stories and places are experienced in new ways when two Muskegon artists join their distinctly different styles and mediums in a show titled “Recombination.”
Painter Art Martin is collections manager and assistant curator at the Muskegon Museum of Art. Sculptor Lee S. Brown is known for his work with wood and recycled or “found objects.”
An exhibit of their individual and collaborative work recently opened in the Art League Gallery of the South Bend Museum of Art in Indiana. More than 40 pieces are on display.
The artists say they hope to bring a similar show of their work to the Muskegon area in the future.
Martin’s work consists of small, intricately rendered still life, portrait and landscape oil paintings. Brown’s totemic wood sculptures
