An exhibition entitled Industrial Landscapes in Bulgarian Painting in the 20th Century is on at the National Art Gallery, part of the National Museum Complex of Sofia, until April 28.

Industrial landscapes emerged as a theme in Bulgarian art at the end of the 1920s and as a sign of the coming of the time of modernisation of the economy and society, and the emergence of new aesthetic attitudes among a minority of artists whose work would prove decisive for the future of Bulgarian art, the gallery said in a media statement.
