Woodmore art class gives Renaissance a personal flair

Some Woodmore High School students have added a little Renaissance flair to the school.

Jodi Peace’s Art II class recently finished charcoal self-portraits in a Renaissance theme, and the portraits are hanging in the school lobby.

For the project, the students incorporated their own images into Renaissance paintings.

“You had to take a Renaissance painting and put your face on it,” junior Sean Small said. “You could pick any picture you wanted.”

Sophomore Scarlet Sevits chose a picture of an upper-class woman with fine clothing and jewels.

“I liked the details on it,” she said. “I thought it would look really cool.”

Creating the portraits was a long process.
